Bill Giese - President
Bill has worked in the energy industry for over 25 years. He made his ground-floor start at Atco Gas where he stayed for 19 years. While at Atco Gas he obtained his land agent’s license and completed his Petroleum Landman certification through Mount Royal College. He then moved into a position as a surface landman and spent 13 years in that role at Atco. Bill then ventured into the oil and gas side and coordinated surface land programs at Enerplus Resources. From 2003 to 2006, Bill served as vice president at HMA Land Services where he coordinated numerous oil and gas programs, as well as large pipeline and power line projects. In 2006 Bill started Synergy Land Services Ltd.
Bill obtained his senior right of way agent (SRWA) certification and has served on the IRWA Board (Calgary Chapter) for several years, most recently as president (2005-2006). Bill also stays involved with the IRWA by facilitating courses in Negotiations, Alternative Dispute Resolution and Native Awareness. He is also a member of the Alberta Association of Surface Land Agents (AASLA) and serves as secretary for the field acquisition committee (FAM) for the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen (CAPL). He volunteers in the community, for his children’s sports teams and on the Calgary Stampede Breakfast Committee. Bill is deeply committed to success; he is a dedicated worker, has a keen business sense and an eye to the future. Bill is an excellent negotiator and has
a passion for seeking mutually beneficial resolutions in all business dealings.

Keith Turner - Executive Vice President
Keith brings over 10 years of land and project management experience to Synergy Land Services. He made his start in the oil and gas sector in 1999 with Koch Pipelines Canada, then with Inter Pipeline Fund where he worked towards and received his land agent's license. In 2004 he moved on to Pembina Pipeline Corporation as a project manager before joining the HMA Land Services team in 2005. Keith has completed many well site and pipeline acquisitions and has managed numerous projects for industry clients such as: Taylor Gas Processing Inc., Apache, Encana, Aux Sable, and Enbridge. Along with his land and project management background, he has extensive regulatory experience with the ERCB and the NEB.
Keith is responsible for the development and implementation of an interactivedatabase, utilized by both staff and clients. He also handles day to day operations at Synergy and is focused on developing business opportunities in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
Keith stays current with industry practices by sitting on the executive of the International Right of Way Association (IRWA), as well as through his membership with the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen(CAPL),and the Alberta Association of Surface Land Agents (AASLA).

James McCorquodale - Vice President
James has been involved in the energy industry since 2003. He made his start with Scott Land and Lease as a freehold mineral and telecommunications landman and then he assumed responsibility for coordinating crown landsales. In 2006, he joined Husky Energy as a mineral land analyst. His next stop was Direct Energy / Centrica as a surface landman, coordinating acquisitions of Crown and freehold surface leases. From 2008 to 2010, James directed and participated in land negotiations at Montana Alberta Tie Ltd. on both sides of the Canada / US Border. This is where James honed his skills in project management, budget preparation and timelines. Most recently, he held a role as a Stakeholder Engagement Specialist with AltaLink Management, supporting many of its upcoming large capital builds within Alberta.
James has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary, has been trainedand certified by the International Association of Public Participation, and is a member of CAPL.
James looks forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead with Synergy.

Brock Anderson - Fort Macleod Branch Manager
Brock started with Synergy at its inception and was instrumental in the start-up process. Now, having five years of experience in the land industry, Brock has been dedicated to the AltaLink SW 240 kV transmission line, the first new transmission line to be constructed in over 20 years within the province of Alberta. He has gained valuable experience and skills with each new project and has taken on each new role handed to him with enthusiasm and the desire to learn. Now in a coordinating position, Brock oversees a number of land agents. He is skilled in maintenance and construction access as well as the acquisition of power line right of ways.
Brock keeps up to date with the land industry as a member of the IRWA, Calgary chapter. He is currently working towards his SRWA certification. As a volunteer, he has coached soccer locally and in Calgary for a number ofyears. He is committed to his continuing growth within the land industry, for years to come.

Michelle St. Michael - Fort Macleod Office Manager
A land administrator for 14 years, Michelle has worked in oil and gas for 18 years. Working from our Fort MacLeod office, she has been instrumental in the start-up of Synergy, developing templates and processes. Her level ofresponsibility increased with each position she held with companies such as Stanford Energy Corporation, Brymore Energy, Cavalier Land, Petro J Land and Encana.
Her roles have included administrative/secretarial duties to office administrator to senior land administrator to team lead and surface land coordinator. She has experience in both surface and mineral land services, has high standards and is self-motivated.

Troy Welder - Regina Branch Manager
Troy brings over a decade of experience working in the Saskatchewan Land Titles and Geographical Information Industry. Prior to joining Synergy, Troy was employed by Information Services Corporation of Saskatchewan (ISC), where he focused specifically on analyzing complex mineral and surface issues, interpreted how current and past legislation affects those issues in the province, and served as the liaison for many large oil and gas transactions. In addition to having in-depth knowledge of all aspects of Saskatchewan Land and Geographical Information Systems, Troy spent his last three years at ISC in the role of Client Relationship Manager for the Oil and Gas Sector, and was co-chair of the Resource Sector Working Group (a joint committee between ISC, the Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources, CAPLA and CAPL). This group was established specifically to address issues the resource sector had in dealing with Saskatchewan Lands, and allowed Troy to gain extensive knowledge of the industry and what is required of companies to successfully interact and conduct business within the province of Saskatchewan. Troy has also had the opportunity to co-facilitate the CAPL educational course on Saskatchewan PNG Regulations and Saskatchewan Lands.
Troy looks forward to continuing to apply his strong customer service skills at Synergy Land Services in order to provide high quality, innovative solutions that address the customer’s business needs. |
